Never take love for granted

Relax. Even when you are capable and strong, you must know that there is a power that takes care of you. It is so compassionate, it is with you and will always help you. If we just understand this, the insecurity and fear in the mind goes away. Great relaxation, confidence and trust come.

==========================

Q: How do we keep God and the world together?

Guruji: They are already one. Where is the question of combining them? In the nature of form, it is world, and same is God in its formless nature. You don’t have to do anything to bring them together.

==========================

I tell you, love is the most powerful thing on the planet. Do not let anybody, any situation, any cause, any reason destroy that.

==========================

Beautiful story…..A very poor man lived with his wife. ~ O Henry!

One day, his wife, who had very long hair asked him to buy her a comb for her hair to grow well and to be well-groomed.
The man felt very sorry and said no. He explained that he did not even have enough money to fix the strap of his watch he had just broken. She did not insist on her request.

The man went to work and passed by a watch shop, sold his damaged watch at a low price and went to buy a comb for his wife.

He came home in the evening with the comb in his hand ready to give to his wife.

He was surprised when he saw his wife with a very short hair cut.

She had sold her hair and was holding a new watch band.

Tears flowed simultaneously from their eyes, not for the futility of their actions, but for the reciprocity of their love.

MORAL: To love is nothing, to be loved is something but to love and to be loved by the one you love, that is EVERYTHING. Never take love for granted.

==========================

Q: Is revenge justified?

Guruji: Revenge is a sign of foolishness and stupidity. Any revenge shows you have lost your vision, that you have become blind.

==========================

Your consciousness is like corn. With the heat of Knowledge, consciousness pops ups and becomes white and fluffy.

Meditation is letting go of anger

Q: Why are people today becoming spiritual and political also?

Guruji: If people are becoming more spiritual, then that is a good thing. When there are so many problems happening in the society today, then the good and spiritual people have to step in and take up political roles also. Both are needed.

=========================

Meditation is letting go of anger from the past and all the planning for the future. Meditation is accepting this moment and living every moment totally with depth. Just this understanding, and a few days of continuous practice of meditation can change the quality of our life.

=========================

Q: Even after meeting you why do people continue to behave rudely and in a jealous manner? What is the reason?

Guruji: I would advise you not to worry about others.

Just imagine if they wouldn’t have been on the path, how rude they would have been. I take them, accept them and give them enough time to improve. People do change with time. People improve.

You should not get stuck in watching and observing other. You watch yourself. Just quietly reflect and observe how much have you changed after coming on to the path. You see your own progress.

Some people are slow learners, some are quick learners. This happens in life.

=========================

Can all spiritual organization get together and start a political party? I am sure this party can change the face of politics, and the plight of people in the country.

Guruji: Spiritual organizations are there to give solace to people of all political parties. Spiritual organizations cannot attach itself to one political party. They have to be neutral. Like the supreme court is for everyone. The court of justice is for everyone. Similarly, the entertainment industry is for everybody. It cannot belong to a party.

Spiritual organizations is where people go when they burn out, when they have problems. They come for advice, they come for solace, they come for rejuvenation. That is needed for all political parties.

Like in the games, an umpire is neutral, he is for everybody. Spiritual organizations have their own code of conduct, their own laws. They need to be neutral. They need to advice. Of course we will also advice people to go and vote 100 percent.
I have been advising all the people not to vote for the criminal and corrupt elements. This much we have to do. We have to point out. The trend in this country is so bad. There are very few bad elements but they have a vote bank for themselves. There is a corrupt man and he has bought a set of people around him and he buys votes and so he has a vote bank. So every political party gives them a ticket and makes them run for elections. For this trend to reverse, the people, who are apathetic, who just sit at home and don’t go to vote should become more proactive. And this is what we have been doing. It is changing now.

Do You Know I Have No Mercy?

Mercy indicates lack of intimacy. Indicates a distance; a lack of belongingness. You don’t have mercy on your near and dear ones. You don’t hear parents say, “l have mercy on my children.” You have mercy on those who you think are not yours. Mercy indicates anger, judgment and authority. When you ask for mercy, you are self- centered. You want to be excused from the law of cause and effect. It also indicates lack of courage and valor.

At times mercy is an impediment to growth. Mercy, of course, brings some comfort and relief; but can impair the process of transformation. If the leaves were to ask for mercy from falling, they would not be transformed.

If someone is driving and is tired, they will stop at the rest area. But if they start living there, they will be arrested. Then the spot has not served its purpose.

Patti and Victoria, high on bliss, did not stop at the stop sign and the police mercilessly gave them a ticket (in India-memo). Do you know what? Victoria said, “Thank you.” But the police woman told her to go to court and ask for mercy!

When you know and trust the process of creation, you will simply rejoice. It is the small mind which superimposes its nature on the Divine mind. Only when you made a mistake and you think God is angry and judging you do you ever ask for mercy. The Divine is all knowing and all loving; there is no chance for mercy.

Do you know I have no mercy? When there is intimacy there is no place for mercy.

=====================

A sign of success is confidence. Even if you lose everything, if you have confidence, then you can recreate everything again, and that is success.

=======================

The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.

=======================

Q: In a world that is changing so fast you still seem to be the same, unchanged and so beautiful and so adorable. How is that Guruji?

Guruji: Some questions are to be wondered about, so this too is not a question but something you need to wonder about.

=====================

Love is offered to you as a child but when you grow up, somewhere you lose it, and then you try to catch it. You have to climb up to get it. Climb up from the smaller things. That is where real love is. So, when you climb up, get over all the cravings and aversions, and when you catch it, nature rejoices.

YOGA MYTHS

ANANDMURTI GURUMAA debunks several yoga myths that are being circulated by ignorant practitioners

The global renaissance of ‘yoga’ has the potential to become a radical movement — perhaps a quantum leap in human evolution, the proviso however being that one clearly understands what it actually means.While the impression is that there is a universal renewed interest in ‘yoga’, the revival is mostly confined to asanas alone. When jiva or microcosmic consciousness unites with the all-pervading Ishwara or macrocosmic consciousness, this union is known as yoga. It is the state where the mind dissolves in the real Self and all samskaras or seeds of past impressions get burnt in the incandescent fire of Self-realisation. It is the pinnacle of inner evolution succinctly described by Sage Patanjali in his well-known aphorism: yogash chitta vritti nirodhah. Yoga is the ultimate destination of a human being’s evolutionary journey. And there are several paths that one can tread with this intention.

The prevailing, resurgent interest in asanas is just one part of Ashtanga Yoga which is an eight-stepped ladder with the ascending rungs of yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and culminating in the highest point of samadhi. And the most celebrated text outlining its precepts is Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.

Yama refers to the five moral codes of conduct whilst interacting with others: satya — truthfulness in thoughts, speech and actions; ahimsa— nonviolence in thought, speech and actions; asteya — nonstealing;aparigraha — nonhoarding and brahmacharya— at the physical level it refers to celibacy and for householders, it means fidelity.

Niyama refers to the five self-disciplinary codes: shaucha — cleanliness of body, external environment and mind; santosha — being content with one’s life, accepting everything without discrimination; tapah — austerity;svadhyaya — to be established in the real Self but it also refers to self-learning through scriptural texts and ishwarpranidhana— forsaking one’s ego and being totally surrendered to God’s will.

Asana has neither got anything to do with body contortion, acrobatics or gymnastics, nor is it physical exercise. Many people mistakenly think that they don’t need to learn asanas because they are already going to the gym or doing aerobic exercises. See, such exercises stimulate catabolism. So, although you achieve an athletic, sculpted look,your energy gets drained. Then people consume energy enhancing drinks which are laced with harmful chemicals that could harm your vital organs. Asanas,on the other hand, balance your metabolism and thus energise your body with the added beneficial effect on the functioning of all internal organs.

Art Of Asanas

Asana is a science and art in its own right and one requires an in-depth understanding of body, anatomy, physiology and yes, geometry, too. Right posture alone is not asana. It has to be supplemented with poise,proper positioning, right alignment, focus on breathing and crucially,the presence of awareness of every part of your body in the said posture. Asana is moving meditation, for such is the heightened awareness of body and breath. Never forget the objective of mastering asanas — to be able to sit comfortably in a stable posture and thus acquire the eligibility of progressing to the higher stages on the path of yoga. As a byproduct, the body becomes healthier, energetic and one may get cured of some ailments. But asanas are not a panacea for diseases. Strictly speaking,yoga can be taught only by a yogi. You cannot become a yogi just by adopting a certain external appearance. If the person teaches in a scientific way,very attentively, with patience and diligence then know that he is well-versed in the craft.

Pranayama Misconceptions

Once asanas are perfected,the practitioner can move on to pranayama. Again, there are misconceptions galore in this regard. Breathing in and out, shoving the stomach in and out is not pranayama.‘Prana’ refers to cosmic vital energy which is the critical force sustaining life. And giving dimension to this vital life force is pranayama. Prana is the bridge that connects our body with our mind. When prana exits the body,this connection gets severed leading to death of the body. That is why, once prana leaves the body, no matter how much oxygen you pump in as part of the resuscitation,the body cannot be revived.

The next stage is pratyahara and this means withdrawal of the five cognitive senses from their respective sense objects and stabilising them in the mind.

Maturity of pratyahara results in the state of dharana where only one thought is held in the mind to the exclusion of all others.

The fruition of dharana is dhyana or meditation, which is a state of thoughtless,heightened awareness.Meditation cannot be taught; it is a state that occurs as a consequence of matured dharana. Yoga happens in the totally still state of samadhi. All ignorance gets eradicated, and one reaches the pinnacle of human evolution with a remarkably heightened level of consciousness. This is the purpose of human life. The destination and path are clear-cut.What is needed is a disciplined practice under the guidance of an enlightened master

WORDS OF SRI ANANDAMAYI MA-18

INQUIRER: I have read in books that some say, they have to descend in order to act in the world. This seems to imply that although they are established in Pure Being, they have to take the help of the mind when doing work. Just as a king, when acting the role of a sweeper, has for the time being to imagine he is a sweeper.

SRI MA: In assuming a part, surely, there’ is no’ question of ascending or descending.

Abiding in His own Essential Being (Svara);

He Himself play various parts.

But when you speak of ascending’ and descending – where is the state of Pure Being? Can there be duality in that state? Brahman is One without a second. Though from your angle of vision, I grant, it does appear as you put it.

INQUIRER: You have explained this from the level of ajnana. Now be pleased to speak from the level of the Enlightened (Jnani)!

SRI MA: (laughing): What you say now, I also accept. Here, (pointing to herself) nothing is rejected. Whether it is the state of Enlightenment or of ignorance – everything is all right. The fact is that you are in doubt. But here there is no question of doubt. Whatever you may say, and from whatever level – is He, and He, and only He.

QUESTION If this is so, is it of any use to ask you further questions?

SRI MA: What is, IS.

That doubts should arise is natural.

But the wonder is, where THAT is, there is not even room for different stands to be taken. Problems are discussed, surely, for the purpose of dissolving doubts. Therefore it is useful to discuss. Who can tell when the veil will be lifted from your eyes?

The purpose of discussion is to remove this ordinary sight.

This vision is no vision at all, for it is only temporary.

Real vision is that vision where there is no such thing as the seer and the seen. It is eyeless – not to be beheld with these ordinary eyes, but with the eyes of wisdom. In that vision without eyes there is no room for division?.

Here, (pointing to herself) there is no question of giving and taking, neither of serving.

On your level they exist, from there these topics arise.

This evening the following statement was made “Through the observance of silence one attains to Supreme Knowledge (Jnana)”.

Are You A Tourist Or A Pilgrim?

What is the difference between a tourist and a pilgrim?Both are on a journey. Whereas a tourist is satisfying the senses, a pilgrim is in the quest of the truth. A tourist gets tired and tanned, while a pilgrim sparkles with spirit. Every move a pilgrim makes is with sacredness and gratitude, while a tourist is often preoccupied and unaware. A tourist compares with other experiences and places and hence is not in the present moment. But a pilgrim has a sense of sacredness, so he tends to be in the present moment.Most people in life are just tourists without even being aware of it. Only a few make their life a pilgrimage. Tourists come, look around, take pictures in their mind, only to come back again. Pilgrims are at home everywhere and are hollow and empty. When you consider life as sacred, nature waits on you.Are you a tourist or a pilgrim?

==============

Dear Gurudev, is there a difference between the soul and the mind? Guruji:Mind is that which perceives. See, ‘you are looking at me’ is through the mind. If mind is elsewhere, you can’t see me, right? If you’re not paying attention, if you’re not being mindful, you can’t hear what I’m saying. When mind is elsewhere, can you hear what I’m saying? No, right? Though the sound is falling on the ears, if mind is elsewhere, you cannot hear. So our perception depends on the mind. But the totality of energy is what the soul, or you, are.

=============

If you are a taker of happiness you get misery, if you are a giver of happiness you get joy and love.

=============
See the divine in yourself
You are stupid if you don’t see the Divine in me.If you see the Divine in me you cannot but be a part of me and you cannot be away from me. And if you feel a part of me you can only see the Divine in yourself. And if you can see the Divine in yourself, you’ll see the Divine in everyone.

=============

Intelligence plus character-that is the goal of true education.

=============

Take a class to learn a new subject or skill.
=============

If there is a fight between truth and love. It is love that will win, and truth that will fail.

The Path to the Divine

The Divine can only be found in deep rest(Meditation).

Do you know what the obstacles to deep rest are? It is the cravings and aversions in the mind. If the mind is filled with cravings and aversions, rest is not possible. And if there is no rest, the goal of Sadhana (spiritual practices) cannot be achieved. That is why we need to be free from the cravings and aversions in our mind.
So, how do we do that?

‘I don’t need anything from anyone’, this is what we need to keep in our mind. When we don’t need anything from anyone, we will not have cravings towards anybody. When there is no craving for anybody, there will be no aversion to anybody. Let’s look at our aversions. Who are we averse to? Only those whom we think to be bad, isn’t it?
Don’t think of anyone as a bad person. There is no bad person in the world. If people do something bad, it is because of their ignorance or lack of awareness, or because their mind has been hurt. So, don’t have negative opinions about anybody.

If others have a negative opinion about you, it is their problem, not yours. From your side, do not consider anyone as bad. By doing this, your mind will be clear and pleasant and your intellect will be sharp.
===============
If you get what you want, there is a reason. If you don’t get what you want, there is a reason. Nature is intelligent. The divine is intelligent.
===============

Don’t be impressed by: 1. money, 2. followers, 3. degrees, 4. titles. Do be impressed by: 1. generosity, 2. integrity, 3. humility, 4. kindness.
===============
When one’s vision is imperfect, and they seem to find fault in everything around them, such a person is called Asuya. But Anusuya is one who does not keep finding faults in everything. So whom can you tell a great secret to? One who is Anusuya!
===============
Truth is that which remains constant and unchanging through the three phases of time.
