To Love and Be Loved Back-1

I once read a quote that said, “Love me and I’ll move mountains for you. Hurt me and I’ll drop those mountains on your head.” I think this basically sums up two aspects of our lives. One, how love, or lack of it, can make us feel about someone (or ourselves) and two, how we have mistaken self-gratification for love. Does love really mean that you will always be happy in a relationship? We are naturally miffed when things don’t go our way or when the other person doesn’t behave the way we expect them to.

I get a lot of emails from those who are hurt in love and I meet many more who are unhappy because their relationships are not working out. Some keep complaining yet stay together, some rare few work it out and many just part ways to restore peace in their lives. “Why is it so hard for men to understand us?” an influential woman speaking on behalf of a group said to me once. “All we want is to love and be loved back.”

I didn’t mean to but I ended up chuckling. It sounded so simple — to love and be loved back. That’s what everyone wants. More or less. But, love is anything but simple. And what does it mean — to love and be loved back? If you ask me, it certainly doesn’t mean that you will be entwined in an eternal embrace with the one you love like two serpents locked in a love tangle (not the best visual, I know). A sunset walk on the beach with two people holding hands may be seen as loving and being loved back. Then again, I don’t think it’s doable every day, unless you are a lifeguard perhaps.

A candlelight dinner, maybe a vacation, a lot of attention, empathy, understanding, forgiveness, security, togetherness, loyalty, commitment and appreciation — this is how most of us see love. Many of us believe that in love you always feel secure, you feel wanted, happy, cozy and complete. That the other person is always there to fill your cup up (as if he’s an eager server at the Tiffany’s waiting to refill empty cups). All of this may be possible for all you know, but not at all times.

Ask those who have been together for decades and they’ll tell you that’s not how they see love. Ask those who have figured out the secret of life, those who are happy, and they’ll tell you that’s not what love is about. It never was. No one has ever found the “always” in love. Because, often how you see love is not how the other person sees it too. Their definition of loving may be different to yours. And, true love is reconciling the variance. It is about finding a common ground. Love is synchronizing your heartbeats, so you may both be comfortable with each other’s dissimilarities. In the absence of this mutual understanding, love remains a mere abstract and a quixotic definition.

Loving is not changing the other person but accepting the change that comes in your life with their entry. Love makes no attempt to make the other person want what you want. That is best left to possessiveness and ego.

To love means to find out what matters to the other person, to appreciate their efforts and to care about what they care about, because this shows understanding, it shows respect. It is love, for loving someone is not possible without understanding them first. To love someone the way you want to love them is not really love. To truly love means to love them the way they want to be loved. If you are loving him or her the way you like to be loved then you may not be loving them at all. You may just be giving love according to your preference and perspective. Know the difference. Learn to love if you want to be loved back.

Q: Why do I exist?

Q: Why do I exist?

Guruji: You are here to make this world a better place. You are here to celebrate life and not to complain and brood over life.
======================
Anything that nurtures the spirit is spirituality. Proper rest, some knowledge, an expansion of your vision, all this is part of spirituality. And all of this is needed for a civilized happy life.
======================

Letting Go!

Every time you breathe in, you have to breathe out. Without breathing out, you cannot breathe in.

You are able to indulge in anything because you leave it for short intervals in between. Is someone able to eat continuously without stopping? No. You eat and then you stop. The same is for any experience that you gain from the five senses. Can you keep on listening to music without any break? No. You listen to music for a while and then you want to shut it off. You cannot eat 24 hours a day, or listen to music 24 hours a day, or smell something 24 hours a day. In the earlier times fragrances were very popular with people. Nowadays, you are getting fragrance free soap. You are getting everything free of fragrances.

All the experience you gain from your five senses, including the thoughts that come out of your intellect cannot be carried on continuously.

Let us say that you have 20 questions. You ask one question after another, but after that what? Suppose you have learned everything, you have received the answer to all your questions, then what next? Just to satisfy this little intellect, we want an answer to calm it down.

The element that is beyond the intellect is within you. Every answer has just one objective, to make you silent. Every question has just one objective, to dive within. If diving within is all that you want to achieve, then what is the purpose of asking so many questions. What will you achieve after asking all these questions and listening to all the answers? Just relax.

Somehow you have to let go of all the things you have learnt. There is a saying in South India, “Unless you forgot what you have learnt, you will not achieve liberation”. All the things you learn — music, Ayurveda, chemistry or physics, you have to forget it. Unless you forget it, there is no liberation.
======================
There are so many people who have contributed towards your achievements. When you are grateful towards them, then you remain centered. If one person has to win the race then there is indirect cooperation by many around. This is important.
======================
Q: We have the Rudra Puja and Vishnu Puja in our tradition, but why is it that we do not have any practice of Brahma Puja (worship of Lord Brahma)?

Guruji: Well, that is because Lord Brahma’s task of creating the Creation is over. Lord Brahma is present in Lord Shiva, and Lord Brahma is also present in Lord Vishnu. He (Lord Brahma) resides in everything. So when you worship Lord Vishnu, you are also worshipping Lord Brahma. The essence is to see that One Divinity in everyone and everything, and to also see everyone and everything as a part of the Divine. This is the point.
There is a term called as Brahmavadin. One is Lord Brahma, the other is the Brahman (the formless, eternal, all-pervading One Consciousness or Divinity). Do not confuse the two. There are no puja rituals to be done for the Brahman, that is the Paramatma or the One Divinity. You can only contemplate and meditate upon the Brahman. In order to prevent people from getting confused between Lord Brahma and the Brahman and treating formless Divinity as an object or deity of worship, our ancestors may have made a distinction between Lord Brahma and the Brahman.

Is having a Guru mandatory to experience the state of enlightenment?

Q: Is having a Guru mandatory to experience the state of enlightenment?

Guruji: Is it necessary for you to ask this question and for me to answer? You have asked the question, now if I answer, then we are caught! Got it?
If you ask a question and you think I know the answer, then I am already a Guru and you are already a student. Some people say, ‘I am not a Guru’, and some others say, ‘I am not a student’. This is like saying, ‘I am not a doctor but I will anyway give you some medicine.’ Or someone saying, ‘I am not a patient, but I want some medicine.’ Both these statements have no meaning. See, some guidance is needed. Guru is not a person, it is wisdom, it is a light, it is an energy, it is love; all of it combined. Something as abstract as spirituality needs a little guidance. When your mind is very still, you can get all the guidance. But when the mind is not still, it is good to take guidance from one whose mind is absolutely still.
=====================
Q: Who are you?

Guruji: First you know yourself, then you will have the capability to know Me!

How to Deal with Loneliness (Part 3)

Come on, wake up and see. Don’t look for something or someone to fill your vacuum. There is song from a kavi (poet) which says, “My beloved comes to me in my dreams”.
When you think that this whole world is a dream, you shake hands with your beloved. Once you embrace your beloved, there is no loneliness anymore, anywhere, ever. This is the spiritual path.

I am not against you having a relationship or a family, or getting married. You can have your spouse or your companion, but not from the space of wanting something from them. You can imagine a partnership where you are content and you are only contributing to the other person. Such a relationship will last longer.

When you feel lonely, sit and meditate. Listen to bhajans or songs. Your beloved is within you. You just have to look inwards. Once you find the beloved within you, then you will find him/her everywhere in creation.
=====================
Don’t worry about your progress. You are progressing – there is no way of regression on the spiritual path; there is always progress.

YOU DEFINE YOURSELF BY YOUR DECISIONS

Success is the intentional, premeditated use of choice and decision. Unless you choose—with certainty—what it is you want, you accept table scraps by default!

The world is plump with opportunity. With boldness and conviction, stick a fork into the goals you want by being decisive.

You are born with great capabilities, but you will not achieve your potential until you call upon yourself to fulfill it. You will rise to the occasion when it presents itself; yet, to assure self-fulfillment, you must provide occasions to rise to.

Clearly defined goals allow you to travel toward another horizon that represents the end of one experience and the transition to a new and better existence. The objective is to choose the right goals, and then to create the necessary causes—the effects will follow!

The DIFFERENCE between what one person and another achieves depends more on goal CHOICES than on ABILITIES.

The profound differences between successful people and others are the goals they choose to pursue. Individuals with similar talents, intelligence, and abilities will achieve different results because they select and pursue different goals.

Each decision affects WHAT YOU BECOME. We form our decisions and our decisions form us.

There is no escaping this; the smallest choices are important because—over time—their cumulative effect is enormous.

Never overlook the obvious: The nature and direction of your life change the instant you decide what goals you want to pursue.

Once you make a decision, you start down a path to a new destination. At the moment the decision is made, your decision to pursue a goal alters what you are becoming. Just one spin of the lock’s dial—a single choice—can alter your life, your destiny, your legacy.

Think about it—your goal decisions represent and express your individuality. You seal your fate with the choices you make.

YOU DEFINE YOURSELF BY YOUR DECISIONS.

Your dialog with success is ultimately a solo one. Decisions and goals made must be your own if you are to call your life a success.

Always establish the best goals you can. Goals are the seeds of success—you become only what you plant. The quality of your harvest is a direct reflection of the quality of your seeds…your decisions!

Indecision is the big eraser of opportunity and potential. Risks and costs accompany every decision; however, the price of decision is far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction. When it comes to decisiveness, squatters have no rights.

Everyone has an official wish list of things they think are “reasonable.” What about the unofficial wish list? The one that common sense tells you to ignore? The list that exists deep in your mind, the list that keeps you up at night, the list that makes your toes wiggle when you think of it? Why not choose that list for a change?

How long have you dreamed of being, having, and doing what you really want? Think big, as when it comes to your goals, the size of your ambition does matter.

If You Drink Warm Water With lemon For A Year Here is What Will Happen

Lemon water is one of my favorite drinks, it not only quenches thirst better than any other drink, but it nourished our bodies so much more than you would ever believe. Unbelievable things happen when you drink it.

Upon waking our bodily tissues, are dehydrated and are in need of water to push out toxins and rejuvenate the cells.

1. Helps Balance ph
Lemons are incredible alkaline foods. They may be acidic on their own, but inside the body they are alkaline.

2. Aids Digestion
Warm water serves to stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and peristalsis, the waves of the muscle contractions within the intestinal walls that keeps things moving. Lemons are high in minerals and vitamins that help to loosen the ama or toxins, in the digestive tract.

3. Clears Skin
The vitamin C helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood that helps keep skin clear as well.

4. Boosts your Immune System
Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds. They are high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium helps control blood pressure. It is known to have anti-inflammatory effects, and is used as complementary support for asthma and other respiratory symptoms plus it enhances iron absorption in the body; iron plays an important role in immune function.

5. Provides the body with electrolytes that hydrate your body.
6. It is good for the joints, and reducing pain in the joints and muscles.
7. Produces more enzymes from water than food.
8. Help lower blood pressure.
9. Helps to prevent cancer.
10. Aids in weight loss.
11. Helps to dissolve gallstones, kidney stones, pancreatic stones, and calcium deposits.
12. Helps to relieve heartburn.
13. Helps to dilute uric acid, the built up of which leads to pain in the joints.
14. Promotes healing

Just like what it does for the skin to be blemish-free and scar-free. It also helps in healing and maintaining healthy bones, tissues and cartilages.
Lemons are wonderful for the body, but it is very important to dilute it with water; warm water is one of the components that makes this pair so wonderful for the body. Take Half a cup of warm water and squeeze in at least half a lemon’s worth of juice.

It is important to drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, I like to do this the night before and leave the water on my bedside table. This way before my feet even touch the floor I have my water, and I am ready to take on the day.

Helping Children to Come Out of Stress

We have special programs for schools, and it has worked magic. I want to quote one incident in Chicago, USA. One district school had 260 incidents of violence in a year, after the program, it came down to 62. And in the second year, it came down further to 20. So it is very important for children to learn the value of non-violence, non-aggression, friendliness and co-operation. And we have programs designed just for this. We are very happy to share this with you. Such programs are held for thousands of children everywhere because it is important for them to learn how to handle negativity.

Neither at school nor at home does anyone teach us how to handle our negative emotion. Getting angry, jealous, frustrated is natural. When these negative feelings come up, who teaches us how to handle our mind? When we don’t know how to handle these emotions, the pressure builds up and builds up and then shows itself as violence. Sometimes people become so disruptive that they turn schizophrenic. Children who are brilliant, by the age of 17-18 years, they get bipolar and schizophrenic diseases. So we need to educate them on how to handle their negative emotions, how to handle their own mind and be friendly with everybody.

In a classroom if you ask a child, how many friends do you have, they say three, or four, or five. I ask them a question. In a school of 5000 children, if you are not being friendly with 50 kids, then how are you going to be friendly with 7 billion people in the world? So we have not taught children the value of friendliness; how to be friendly with everyone around.

We have some programs where we tell them to make one new friend every day.
=====================
People who irritate you, in some way or the other can bring about the best in you. When everyone around you is wonderful, you don’t need any skill to handle a situation. It will only happen when there are people whom you think are unreasonable.

Q: Man creates wealth for security or insecurity?

Guruji: Wealth is the means but if it becomes a means in itself then it becomes insecurity. If it is used as means then it definitely will help people more.
